Selling Abroad From Turkey Without PayPal or Stripe
PayPal left Turkey in 2016 and Stripe doesn't onboard Turkish businesses. Here's how Turkish sellers accept card and crypto payments from foreign customers with stablecoin settlement.
Turkish exporters, software companies and online stores have a payments gap: PayPal stopped operating in Turkey in 2016, and Stripe doesn't onboard Turkey-based businesses. Domestic acquiring works for local cards, but taking payments from foreign customers — and holding value in a stable currency — is another matter.
Why stablecoins appeal to Turkish businesses
With high inflation over recent years, many Turkish businesses prefer to hold revenue in dollar-pegged assets. USDT and USDC give you dollar value in your own wallet without a foreign bank account.
Taking payments from abroad
- Card-to-crypto checkout: your foreign customer pays by card through a licensed provider in their country; you receive USDC.
- Direct crypto: customers pay in USDT/USDC on low-fee networks such as TRON, Polygon or Solana.
The customer's checkout can be card-only, branded with your logo and colors, and in English, Russian or Spanish.
Domestic customers
For payers located in Turkey, card coverage is narrower (providers such as Banxa, Binance and Coinbase appear in coverage measurements). Domestic acquiring may serve local customers better; use Vulta for international sales and crypto.
Getting started
- Create a free Vulta account — email only, no company documents.
- Add a USDC (Polygon) wallet for card payments, plus any crypto wallets you want (USDT on TRON is popular and cheap).
- Create a payment link: Card only for mainstream buyers, Card + Crypto for everyone.
Vulta takes 0% of payments; plans are Free, Pro ($20/month) and Max ($49/month). Always check how your local rules treat income received in digital assets and declare it for tax as required.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a way to use PayPal in Turkey?
PayPal hasn't operated in Turkey since 2016, so Turkish businesses can't receive through it.
Can I price in lira?
You can, but international customers usually expect USD or EUR. Price in the currency your customers think in.
How do I keep revenue stable against inflation?
Revenue received as USDC or USDT stays dollar-pegged in your wallet until you decide to convert.
Do customers abroad need crypto?
No. With card-only links they pay by card through a provider available in their country.
