Vulta vs Cryptomus: Which Crypto Payment Gateway Fits Your Business? (2026)

Cryptomus charges 0.4–2% per payment, keeps funds on its balance and has required KYC since February 2025. Compare it with Vulta's non-custodial, 0%-fee model.

Cryptomus became popular as a low-fee, low-friction crypto gateway. In 2025 that changed: KYC became mandatory and the company faced regulatory action in Canada. If you are reviewing your options, here is how it compares to Vulta.

What changed at Cryptomus

Cryptomus made KYC mandatory by default in February 2025, so new merchants must verify their identity before using merchant features. In October 2025, Canada's financial intelligence agency FINTRAC announced a large penalty against the company over anti-money-laundering failures. Neither necessarily affects your day-to-day payments, but both are worth knowing when you choose where your revenue flows.

Custody

On Cryptomus, customer payments go to your Cryptomus balance and you withdraw to your own wallet, paying a withdrawal fee. If your account is restricted, the balance waits.

Vulta never holds funds. Every payment is sent directly to an address you control — your self-custody wallet or your exchange deposit address. There is nothing to withdraw.

Fees on $10,000 a month

  • Cryptomus: 0.4%–2% → $40 to $200, plus withdrawal fees.
  • Vulta Pro: $20 flat. Max: $49 flat (adds webhooks, embeddable checkout, custom domain and no Vulta branding).

Card payments

Cryptomus is built around crypto. Vulta adds card payments: a licensed card provider available in your customer's country processes the card and delivers USDC to your wallet. You can offer card and crypto side by side, or a card-only checkout for shoppers who don't use crypto.

Which one should you pick?

Pick Cryptomus if you want its exchange and P2P features and are comfortable verifying your identity and keeping funds on its balance.

Pick Vulta if you want payments in your own wallet from the first second, no percentage fees, no merchant verification, and card payments for customers who don't hold crypto.

Frequently asked questions

Does Cryptomus still work without KYC?

No. Cryptomus made KYC mandatory by default in February 2025, so merchant features require identity verification. Vulta does not verify merchants.

What happens to my funds if a custodial gateway restricts my account?

On a custodial gateway, funds on your balance stay there until the restriction is lifted. With Vulta there is no balance — payments are already in your wallet when they're confirmed.

Can I move my existing Cryptomus customers to Vulta?

Yes. Create payment links or an embedded checkout on Vulta, add the same wallet addresses you withdraw to today, and switch the payment button or links you share with customers.

Which networks does Vulta support?

Bitcoin, Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, BSC, Solana and TRON, with USDT and USDC on the networks where they are common, plus card payments that settle as USDC.
