Accept UPI Payments From Indian Customers and Receive Stablecoins
UPI is how India pays. Here's how a business outside India can let Indian customers pay with UPI in rupees and receive stablecoins in its own wallet.
UPI processes the majority of digital payments in India. For Indian customers it is faster and more familiar than cards — many don't use international cards at all. Accepting UPI as a foreign business has traditionally required an Indian entity and a local payment partner.
How UPI checkout works on Vulta
- A customer in India opens your payment link.
- Vulta shows UPI as a payment option (it is only offered to payers in India).
- Your price is converted to rupees at the live exchange rate — a $25 item is shown in INR.
- The customer pays with their UPI app on the provider's page.
- The provider converts the payment and sends stablecoins to your wallet. The payment is marked paid automatically.
Requirements
- A Vulta account and a USDC (Polygon) wallet address.
- A Card or Card + Crypto payment link. UPI appears alongside card providers for payers in India.
Things to know
- India only, INR only. UPI is offered only to payers located in India.
- Provider checks. The UPI provider may verify the payer, as with card on-ramps.
- Minimums and fees are set by the provider and shown on its page.
Why it matters
If you sell software, courses, services or digital goods to Indian customers, UPI can be the difference between a sale and an abandoned checkout.
