How to Convert USDC or USDT to Money in Your Bank Account

Getting paid in stablecoins is fast. Turning them into local money is the step people ask about most. Here are the main ways to cash out USDC and USDT, and what each costs.

When customers pay you in USDC or USDT — directly, or by card through an on-ramp — the money lands in your wallet as a dollar-pegged stablecoin. Many businesses keep part of it there. When you need local currency, you off-ramp.

Option 1: a centralized exchange

The most common route:

  1. Open an account on an exchange that serves your country and supports bank withdrawals in your currency. You'll go through the exchange's own verification.
  2. Find your deposit address for the exact asset and network you hold — for example USDC on Polygon or USDT on TRON.
  3. Send the stablecoin from your wallet to that address.
  4. Sell it for your local currency (or USD/EUR) and withdraw to your bank.

Costs: a small network fee to send, a trading fee (often around 0.1%), and a withdrawal fee that depends on the method.

Watch the network. Sending USDC on Polygon to an address that only accepts USDC on Ethereum can mean lost or stuck funds. Always match asset and network.

Option 2: P2P markets

In countries where bank withdrawals from exchanges are limited, P2P markets let you sell stablecoins directly to another person who pays you by local bank transfer or mobile money. Use the escrow of a reputable platform, check the counterparty's history, and never release funds before the payment has actually arrived in your account.

Option 3: crypto cards

Some providers issue debit cards that spend from a stablecoin balance. Convenient for everyday spending; check fees and limits.

Option 4: don't convert

Many businesses pay suppliers, contractors and services directly in USDT or USDC, skipping conversion fees entirely and keeping their revenue in dollars.

Frequently asked questions

What's the cheapest network to move USDC to an exchange?

Polygon, Solana, Base and Arbitrum usually cost cents. Make sure the exchange supports deposits on the network you choose.

How long does cashing out take?

Sending to an exchange takes minutes; the bank withdrawal takes from minutes to a few business days, depending on the method and country.

Do I need to verify my identity to cash out?

Exchanges and most off-ramps verify their customers. Vulta doesn't verify merchants, but the exchange you sell on will have its own rules.

Can I receive card payments and cash out the same day?

Yes. Card payments usually arrive as USDC within minutes of the customer paying, and can be sent to an exchange right away.
